LL Musile di Piave

OBJECTIVES:

  • To promote lines of action and urban planning policies to encourage and incentivize construction projects with high environmental sustainability;
  • To facilitate the exploitation of solar energy (more than 50% of heat consumption and more than 1kWp per housing unit, which are already imposed by Municipal building regulations);
  • To increase the exploitation of renewable energy (in particular geothermal energy and inertia of the soil);
  • To achieve the goals of a passive house or Energy Plus (to use the surplus of energy in order to power the electric cars or for other uses);
  • To maximize the re-use of rainwater (which is already imposed by building regulations).

PILOT PROJECT

In the territory of Musile di Piave, there was already interest in the implementation of a pilot project sharing the objectives set out above. It is a small area of expansion that aims to develop simple concepts related to the shape and orientation of the courts, compact and designed with decreasing heights to the south to avoid shading between buildings, to enhance the passive solar gain, to protect from cold winter winds and to control the channelling of the summer winds. The buildings, with the goal of being constructed within the A class, have thick and well insulated walls, and glass surfaces of different sizes depending on the orientation of the fronts. On the planning level, we will aim to adopt measures for the reduction of energy consumption, such as teleheating, geothermal heat pumps, heating and cooling with radiant panels, and controlled ventilation system with heat recovery.

We will aim to develop at least the following aspects:

1)      Materials: Materials shall be recycled and produced close to the site, so as to reduce the environmental impact due to emissions from transport.

2) Energy saving: The orientation and building envelope of apartments shall be designed in order to ensure energy saving.

3) Clean energy: The energy required to power apartments shall be generated from renewable sources.

4) Saving water: rainwater shall be collected in tanks and reused for the discharge of toilets and for watering the plants.

5) Feasibility and costs: the pilot project shall constitute the minimum standard of construction on the territory.

6) Environmental education: by involving citizens we want to promote a sustainable behaviour in relation to energy consumption, sustainable mobility and zero km shopping.

ANTICIPATED RESULTS:

  • To identify the elements to be transferred, such as criteria or incentives, and developed in the processes of municipal planning;
  • To increase designers’ awareness (in an integrated way for a new general settlement system, for both the building envelope and the building system);
  • To direct the investments of the industry.
